The New Zealand Private Capital Association (NZCA) and EY New Zealand run a survey of venture capital and private equity participants in the New Zealand market. Firms from New Zealand and Australia are included. The results of the survey are aggregated and published in the New Zealand Private Capital Monitor's annual release.
The Monitor reports include statistics on the number of deals and the total value of deals, for investment and divestment, venture capital and mid-market and buy-out private equity transactions.
Start-ups are young, small businesses with ambitions to grow. They often involve the innovative use of technology. Start-ups are most common in the software sector, but are also active in health, high-value manufacturing, agritech and other sectors.
Capital investment can be sourced from angel investors, venture capital funders and crowdfunding (online investment from many individuals).
Issues of the Monitor can be accessed here.
